I obtained my RN degree from Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona in 1994. Through the years I’ve had the opportunity to work with some extremely talented people in the medical community. The sacrifice and dedication these people put forth on a daily basis are immeasurable not only to their patients but to the medical community as a whole. Each day brings new challenges and raises the standard of excellence in order to meet the needs of people seeking medical care. I am extremely grateful to those who have been willing to share their knowledge and encourage me to strive for these same goals. In turn I enjoy sharing my knowledge with those entering the nursing field, hoping to mentor as I was mentored. The best advice given to me as I started on this amazing journey was to always error on the side of caution and to never forget where I came from. I have benefited greatly from this advice both in my personal life as well as my career and I encourage others to do the same.

Through the years I’ve maintained my ACLS, chemotherapy, and med/surg certifications offered through the hospital’s continuing education courses. Most are taught by extremely knowledgeable instructors focused on the quality of education rather than the quantity. With this advanced training I’ve had the opportunity to care for some pretty incredible patients who find themselves in for the fight of their lives. I often find myself in awe of these people as they find the courage and determination to stand up against life-threatening illnesses. I’ve gotten a lot of inspiration from caring for people who are living with HIV, cancer patients going through chemotherapy and radiation, those dealing with serious cardiac disease, vent-dependant patients, as well as many other catastrophic illnesses. There will always be a special place in my heart for Hospice patients and their families as they face end of life issues. It is during these most difficult times that opportunities arise enabling the resurrection of old friendships, creating new ones, and resolving issues that have divided families. I encourage people to consider Hospice and take advantage of their services when facing end of life decisions.

Though many of my poems are reflective of my nursing career, I’ve also written poems reflective of real life issues we encounter from time to time. From the violence plaguing our society including the events of Sept 11th to other life experiences I have written poems offering hope and encouragement along with empathy and sympathy with the sincere desire of making a difference. My tributes have been sent around the world including Afghanistan and Iraq in an effort to show my appreciation and support to those serving this great country.

At this time I offer 7 books of poetry for sale and 2 poster size tributes through my website. The tributes are entitled;  “In Memory Of Our Military and In Memory Of September 11th 2001.”  Both are suitable for framing.

I am happy to announce that with the sale of each book a donation will be made to certain local charities in the Phoenix area. Please check the information under each book on my store page for additional information.

As I’ve mentioned it is important to me to hear from those who read my poetry because knowing that I might have made a difference encourages me to keep writing. Thank you for your time and interest in my website.

Sincerely,

Tim Holloway RN

Please keep all those serving this great country in your hearts and in your prayers

and always tell your loved ones just how much you love them every day!
